Untitled, 32. ships ahoy!, 33. juk box, 34. …, 35. grapefruit & new curtains, 36. gams lunch: whole wheat pita with tuna or deli meat or a big salad with grilled chicken. and the dishes she cleans for me!! i don’t even have to rinse before putting things in the dishwasher anymore! and how warm she keeps my toesies while i’m sitting at the desk working on the computer! who needs slippers? it seems her only desire in life is to be close to us. and all she asks for is an occasional pet and some food and water. truly, my lowest maintenance friend. my problem, dear anne, is that it is 2009. kids don’t like to get all fussied up anymore, and i don’t think they would go to the trouble of making up stories about lost broaches to be able to go to a silly church picnic. in my mind the little girls are wearing spring dresses and holding parasols with their gloved hands while the boys are eating biscuits and drinking homemade rootbeer with their hats and suspenders on. but i live in a dreamland where i want everything stylized. i know you understand me, anne. my happy little life i decided that every year for my birthday i will try and make a few mothers have a better birth-day for their newborns. i live near the lds humanitarian center where all goods and donations are organized, boxed, and dispatched out to the world. the church pairs with philanthropic organizations to meet specific needs. a constant need for orphanages and hospitals in developing countries is newborn kits: a layette gown, booties, cotton diapers and pins, a receiving blanket and ivory soap. quilts are also always needed. i can certainly spare some quilting time if it means a cold and lonely child somewhere will be wrapped up cozy! can you? i would like to deliver one newborn kit and one quilt for each year of my life, every year, and i need your help. so this year, my goal is 31 newborn kits and 31 quilts. next year 32, and so on (the hope being that each year i’ll be more organized and have more help…) and i’d love to blow the goal numbers away.
